HOW TO ENETER

Honourable Mentions

A group of creators who did exceptionally well will be apart of our honourable mentions in our program on our website and social media.

We want to see you create something amazing!  Here’s how to enter.

  • Subject matterYour goal is to bring our superhero to life! The only thing we ask is that Van Isle Cons very own super hero “ViGuy” is represented in the piece and that he is recognizable. This does not mean ViGuy must be the only thing in the image. Take us to new worlds, show us a side of this character yet to be explored, Let your style tell a story. Art is about creativity and exploration, make changes, make improvements, get creative!

  • Location: This contest is open to all of Canada and the Pacific Northwest (Oregon, Washington and Idaho—and Montana and Wyoming.)

  • What we need: Your name, short bio, where you're from, name of the piece, a quick write about the piece.

  • Medium:  We accept most forms of media. From watercolour, oil, acrylic, mixed media, digital, pen and ink, pencil, charcoal, and so on. You can work in black and white or in colour. The only mediums that do not qualify are photobashing, matt painting, and photo manipulation.  We do respect these artistic mediums but they do not complement the rules of the contest.

  • NUDITY, violence AND PROFANITY: Keep it clean... with exceptions. We don't believe in censoring your creative abilities but you are also representing our show and our character. We do not accept forms of pornography, racism, or other such nonsense you cheeky devils.

  • Share your work: You are going to want to share your piece on all social media and let your friends know to vote for your image. Use the hashtags #vanislecon and #ViGuyArtContest

  • YOU OWN THE RIGHTS: We will not own the rights to your work and will not sell or profit off of it. You will be given permission to sell and share your work that features our character "ViGuy" once the contest is done. We will retain the rights to the character and will be able use your images on social media and our website or potentially other marketing material indefinitely as a form of promotion for future contests or the show but we will never take ownership of the work and the original artist will always be credited.

  • Deadline: The deadline to enter is April 28th. NOTE: DEADLINE HAS BEEN EXTENDED TO MAY 5TH!

  • FREE TO ENTER: The contest is intended to give opportunities to artists and to support them, which is why it is free to enter.

  • Going to the show: You do not have to be an artist at the show nor do you have to attend to be eligible to enter or win. Although we highly recommend going because it is going to be amazing!

  • Note: All accepted applicants will be displayed on our website in a gallery.

Judging

There are two forms of judging and way to win this contest.

Judges Choice: Your work will be reviewed by our panel of talented and professional judges. They will be looking for overall creativity, how well you represent the character, technical skill like values, colour, composition and so on.

Peoples Choice: To be announced soon...
